Birthday Cake | Decor & Delights

A birthday cake is such a huge centre of attraction at a birthday party, and I think that must be why it is something that brings me a lot of anxiety before the party. It is a central point around which guests gravitate to celebrate the birthday boy/girl, and something EVERYONE focuses in on… and for those reasons is something I always want it to reflect the theme of the party as best as possible.
I had never worked with Nix from Decor & Delights before, but I had seen the cake she had made for my sister’s birthday, and I knew she was someone I was keen to work with and help to grow her business…

From the first day we discussed the design of the cake (which was something I had spotted on Pinterest), Nix made me feel comfortable and secure. Despite not loving fondant, she did not let on to the fact that it wasn’t her preference, instead she just went ahead and did it. I friend of mine, talented Toni from TandCake very kindly offered to make the helmet cake topper, and Nix insisted I send her pics so she could match the yellow perfectly. She was a perfectionist, and her attention to detail was so appreciated.

Nix and her mom delivered the cake together, and when I saw it I again had tears in my eyes, knowing the effort that had gone into it. It was spectacular!

We decided on top layer being chocolate and bottom layer vanilla. The cake was MASSIVE, and the top layer alone fed everyone and we had fresh, fluffy and delicious cake for days.

The Fireman cake could not have been more perfect for our little boy, and we are so very grateful to Nix and her mom for helping bring that dream, (and Pinterest Pin) to life!
I can highly recommend the services of these two phenomenal females – a dynamic duo!
