Brooklyn’s 4th Birthday

My little girl turned FOUR in Feb this year (2021), and she knew exactly what she wanted for her party. She is a real little lady who loves all things pamper & beauty, and so a Pamper Party was the perfect fit for our princess B.

Seeing as we are still amid a global pandemic we took care to keep her party small, inviting only the children she plays closely with in her class, a couple of her besties-since-birth outside of school, and their mamas. This meant no siblings allowed – not even her brothers. 🙁

We had friends staying with us for the weekend so that formed a distraction for the boys, and the dads took the boys out for a fun afternoon just before the party started. Before they left we snuck in some family pics with the very talented Samantha Maber who covered the party, and once they returned after the party had ended they made absolutely sure that the jumping castle was well and truly used, along with their cousins who also arrived after the party ended. You can find those family & post party pics HERE.

Brooke’s special GodMommy had the honour of holding her for the singing and blowing out the candles. Without Juz there it just felt right.

The Set Up:
The main set up was done on our verandah, it often works well for parties and events as it is the most ‘protected by the wind‘ part of our house, although it does seem like our events are almost always on the windiest days, haha!

The idea was to make every little girl feel like a princess, and all the suppliers helped pull this off with flair.

The PolkaDot company supplied all furniture and decor items. Nicky was just such a pleasure to work with, offering her ideas and always making every exchange seamless and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her.

The set up was fairly simple in concept, a main table/ cake table, the candy cart, the table for the little princesses to sit at, and the mani/pedi/beauty station. Nicky provided the table, chairs with tutu skirts, candy cart & candy jars, the main table & tutu table cloth, almost all cake stands and dishes/bowls on main table, the large “B” marquee letter, the gold crowns on table, the pedi station chairs and white easel.

Mad Hatters Ballito did all the balloons, including the beautiful arch. Taryn always goes above and beyond, and I don’t only use her for parties, but for delivering special balloons to friends and family for special occasions too. She is always someone who will make a plan, and does everything to perfection.

The Main Table:
The cake, cake pops and candy apples were from Decor & Delights. The biscuits were absolutely beautiful, made by the talented Lynell from My Love For Cookies. Krispy Kreme sponsored the most delectable sugar & cinnamon donuts which were devoured almost as the party started. I stumbled across the Global Grocer and managed to source light pink & pastel coloured sweets and biscuits, which helped bring the main table to life in the way we had hoped. Of course the main table was finished off beautifully with Taryn’s ombre arch over the table.

Refreshments:
BOS makes the perfect refreshments for any party. I ordered both their little Watermelon & Mint box juices and their Grape & Cherry Icy’s – both were demolished & such a hit.

The Princess’ Table:
Each setting had its own little crown on their place setting, as well as a little mirror so they could see how their hair & make up had been done in the pamper station. The flowers I bought from Love Laugh Protea and one of my besties helped arrange them.

The Pamper Station:
This was the highlight of the party for the girls. I had asked my nieces and their friends to please come and ‘pamper’ the little ones, and they truly made the party what it was. They painted their nails, placed glitter tattoos on their little limbs, gave them lipgloss and chalk-coloured hair. The little madams were in their absolute elements, and just adored having “older girls” at the party.

The Fun:
Nothing beats a jumping castle when it comes to party fun, and it was so sweet seeing how confident the little girls were without big brothers and sisters around who tend to dominate the parties. We hired our castle from Taryn at Kings Castles

The Sweet Little Souls:
The girls (and moms) seemed to have a very special morning

Thank you to all sponsors who came on board to make this party what it was, to all Brooke’s little friends and their moms for coming, and to Samantha Maber Photography for this incredible pics of special moments.

A word of encouragement for moms. This party is a reflection of what a full, OTT party looks like. The purpose is to show you the various elements you could use from our selection of local suppliers. Don’t feel the pressure of recreating a party like this, use it as inspiration, and take from it the knowledge that I have first-hand used the services and products from these various suppliers, and from my experience can highly recommend their services to you. Some people put far more money into their weddings, while others choose rather to go small and put their money elsewhere, just the same way some choose to do large parties, while others decide to do a holiday or whatever that might be, each to their own. I encourage you to take from large “OTT” parties the elements you like, take the opportunity to learn about suppliers you maybe weren’t aware of, and enjoy the sharing of information. There is no need to feel the pressure to create anything that doesn’t fit you, your budget, lifestyle or beliefs.
