I can still hardly believe it, but our baby girl turned THREE in February. We celebrated in style with a THREE-ESTA, and it was just the most wonderful party for our colourful little Sénorita. You can read a letter to my little 3 year old here.
We hosted the party in our home, which is one of my favourite things to do, however this was the first party in years that I didn’t have the services of my trusty party planner, as she had moved out of Ballito, and my goodness, party planning is a huge job! But thankfully one that I just adore. There were more than a few times that I felt overwhelmed and like I had bitten off way more than I could chew, but I had many fabulous brands on board for Brooke’s party and they truly came together to make the party a beautiful and incredibly joyful afternoon.
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Lyndi from The Party Box Co as she launched her sensational party stationary business. Lyndi was so great to work with and just like with Hired&Co, I sent Lyndi my mood board and she came back with some ideas of how stationary could compliment the theme. Lyndi complimented the elements so beautifully and brought in a feminine feeling through watercolour cactus, “3”s and little signs, bunting and many other elements to place around the party. Lyndi also printed stickers for water bottles and supplied them ready, as well as put little “B” stickers onto boxes that matched the theme for sweets & chips. And finally, the little tags for the party packs were just gorgeous, each with a threaded ribbon and hand-glued flower. Lyndi’s attention to detail is what makes her so good at this. I have no doubt she will soar!
All furniture and selected decor items were provided by Hired&Co. From start to finish Lisa was a pleasure to work with. I sent her my mood board for the party and she came back with a presentation of furniture she had in stock, and how she suggested we set it up. This was such a huge help to me because I felt a little overwhelmed with all the planning and one element stressing me the most was how the party should be laid out. I had a vague idea of what I wanted, and Lisa really helped to put that into motion. Her furniture was all delivered ahead of the party with enough time to set up, however we had some bad weather just before the party and so only had the day of the party to set up, thankfully there wasn’t all too much to do apart from moving things into place. I know that if I was hosting a big, important event or wedding I would choose Lisa in a heart-beat because she has such attention to detail and offers a brilliant service. If there were any hiccups along the way Lisa went above and beyond to rectify and she proved herself to be a huge asset to the Durban events industry.
It is hard to imagine that Brooklyn’s Fiesta would have been as feminine, vibrant and colourful without the work of heART by Carolyn from Adore Weddings & Events. The dancing flower pots that Cazzy put together were just too spectacular. Cazzy is the most wonderful flower fairy with an enormous heart for bringing love to those who need it through flowers. She brings such joy with not only her presence, but leaves it with you in the arrangments she puts together. She truly is a visionary.
Our precious first-born son turned seven in September and what is a birthday without a party, right?? For nearly a year Jackson has had his heart set on having his party at this awesome spot, and so he was one very happy boy that it was finally happening.
Jackson’s party was essentially a “drop ‘n go” party, and because there were only a total of 9 kiddies (including Jackson, Jordy & Brooke), we collected the kids from school on Friday afternoon and drove them through to the venue. It was at this moment that I fekt incredibly grateful that my brother had offered to come along to help – I do not know how I would have herded 8 kiddies alone. Once the boys were all dressed & ready, Justin met us at school with Brooklyn and we made our way to Umhlanga. Okay I will quit with the suspense and tell you what the awesome party venue that hosted Jackson’s party was… you guys have been very patient 🙂
Last Saturday, 7 September 2019, I flew to Johannesburg with butterflies in my belly in anticipation for the Luxuria South Africa Spring in the City event in collaboration with BMW Bavaria and 30 other luxury brands.
Upon arrival at the BMW Bavaria dealership the atmosphere was electric and exciting. Like orderly worker-bees driven by a common purpose, the Luxuria Lifestyle team, as well as multiple brands who partnered on the event, were focused and swift in tranforming a stunning car showroom into what would become the ultimate luxury event!
I am a real BMW fan, so I was absolutley in my element watching these beautiful beasts gliding around the showroom in an attempt to make the best entrance possible for the expected guests. It was a treat seeing the new BMW i8 in action; I intentionally say ‘seeing’ and not hearing because this baby is electric and so very, veryyyy quiet. I feel the lightweight carbon-fibre gull wing doors make her look like she is a bird in flight. She is a real beauty! Maybe one day when I am big… 😉
If you are looking for furniture to hire for any party or event in Durban I can highly recommend the services of UNIK. They are a Durban-based furniture rental company, providing quality and service of modern furniture and accessories. Their ever-growing portfolio includes loungers, conferencing, cocktail, café, banqueting, office and accessory ranges. Some of their furniture for rental in their catalogue had me swooning! They have everything from picnic-shabby-chic, to red-carpet luxe!
Our precious Jordan Rock turned FIVE years old this August, and his party theme of choice was a FIREMAN party. It is honestly crazy to think that my sweet, kind and very busy little boy is already half-a-decade in age. What an absolute blessing he is to all our lives… I wrote him a little love letter:
A letter to my precious 5 year-old, second-born child:
To our gorgeous, blue-eyed, white-wispy-blonde-haired little firecracker. You are a constant, overflowing ray of light in our every day. You bring joy out of the most ordinary of things or situations. You are the most beautiful example of JOY that I have ever known in my 33 years of life. You have taken five years to learn about how your body moves, or doesn’t/shouldn’t move, having taken years off your mama’s life from all the many dangerous and precarious situations you have put yourself in… but I think you are finally getting there. I do think you are destined to be a thrill seeker, but time will tell and we continue to pray for protection over you always. You love us and everyone you know whole-heartedly, and have a huge and forgiving heart. You have the ability to be the life of the room, and also at the same time to be the most sensitive to those in need of a little extra love. You are just all kinds of wonderful, my boy. Thank you for continually being a little light in our lives, we are blessed by you daily. Love you sooooo much. XOXO
Love your mama
We were very spoilt to have had many brands and businesses collaborate on Jordy’s party so that they might show off what they have to offer you and your children’s parties, so please take a look and remember these awesome suppliers for future!
One of the most essential additions to any of our parties has to be the presence of a professional photographer. Justin and I are so busy entertaining our guests and checking on the kiddies that there is just no time to capture the special moments. One of the reasons I don’t feel sad when a party is over is because I feel so excited to see the pictures that will follow soon after. Tash from POSH recommended the services of Mo Heine from BlondeZulu Photography. It was my first time meeting Mo, but gosh, this stunning blonde certainly impressed me.
