Celebrating the men of our homes is such an honour, and I thought what a better way than to celebrate them whilst also supporting small businesses who have survived lockdown by the skin of their figurative teeth 🙂 I hope you love the guide as much as I do and please do tag me in your purchases on Insta so I can reshare and know who you supported
Generosity; 1. the quality of being kind and generous.
We know well the meaning of generosity, but what does it mean to you? I believe that generosity is, at its core, an instinct to go above and beyond, in the selfless hope of genuinely improving another persons’s life. Cadbury Dairy Milk believes ‘There’s a glass & a half of generosity in everyone’. Now more than ever, there’s a real need for generosity and for us to give to our most vulnerable – our children. The reality is that despite what’s happening around us, now more than ever, our children deserve the precious gift of childhood. You might have seen the Cadbury Dairy Milk ‘The Little Generosity Shop’ and ‘GenerosiTrees’ activations that collected more than 100 000 pre-loved toys for orphaned and vulnerable children last year. Well, Cadbury Dairy Milk is once again calling on all South Africans to support orphaned and vulnerable children by facilitating their right to play. The wonderful news for us is that we can be a part of this – part of being generous – in one of the simplest ways imaginable!
I can still hardly believe it, but our baby girl turned THREE in February. We celebrated in style with a THREE-ESTA, and it was just the most wonderful party for our colourful little Sénorita. You can read a letter to my little 3 year old here.
We hosted the party in our home, which is one of my favourite things to do, however this was the first party in years that I didn’t have the services of my trusty party planner, as she had moved out of Ballito, and my goodness, party planning is a huge job! But thankfully one that I just adore. There were more than a few times that I felt overwhelmed and like I had bitten off way more than I could chew, but I had many fabulous brands on board for Brooke’s party and they truly came together to make the party a beautiful and incredibly joyful afternoon.
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Lyndi from The Party Box Co as she launched her sensational party stationary business. Lyndi was so great to work with and just like with Hired&Co, I sent Lyndi my mood board and she came back with some ideas of how stationary could compliment the theme. Lyndi complimented the elements so beautifully and brought in a feminine feeling through watercolour cactus, “3”s and little signs, bunting and many other elements to place around the party. Lyndi also printed stickers for water bottles and supplied them ready, as well as put little “B” stickers onto boxes that matched the theme for sweets & chips. And finally, the little tags for the party packs were just gorgeous, each with a threaded ribbon and hand-glued flower. Lyndi’s attention to detail is what makes her so good at this. I have no doubt she will soar!
All furniture and selected decor items were provided by Hired&Co. From start to finish Lisa was a pleasure to work with. I sent her my mood board for the party and she came back with a presentation of furniture she had in stock, and how she suggested we set it up. This was such a huge help to me because I felt a little overwhelmed with all the planning and one element stressing me the most was how the party should be laid out. I had a vague idea of what I wanted, and Lisa really helped to put that into motion. Her furniture was all delivered ahead of the party with enough time to set up, however we had some bad weather just before the party and so only had the day of the party to set up, thankfully there wasn’t all too much to do apart from moving things into place. I know that if I was hosting a big, important event or wedding I would choose Lisa in a heart-beat because she has such attention to detail and offers a brilliant service. If there were any hiccups along the way Lisa went above and beyond to rectify and she proved herself to be a huge asset to the Durban events industry.
My beautiful baby girl. You are three and whenever I allow my mind to truly sit on that fact for more than a few seconds, my heart starts to hurt a little. My baby girl is already three years old. My last born is no longer a baby, but a real-life little lady. And what a little lady you are, my girl. A little fairy to be more precise. A little fairy-angel-child who runs around on her tippy toes, bringing life and joy and peace with you wherever you wander, thanks to your little smile and that cheeky glint in your eye. You are as much a little lady as you are a little tom-boy. A true contradiction. As much as you adore wearing a tutu and prancing around the living room doing ‘ballet’, you also have just as much fun racing around on your scooter and running around the garden with your brothers.
As promised, here is the artichoke recipe I said I would share with you. | It was sent to me by a friend after I had it at her house, and it is literally the easiest, most delicious dip that is such a fabulous starter (especially for when we can have guests at our homes again one day 😉
I’ve received loads of questions about collagen since sharing the discount code with you all, and even more since the competition launched and so I’ve decided to collate all info here, and if there is anything you would still like to know that is not covered here please feel free to ask me.
If your household is anything like ours during the Lockdown then your TV is likely to be on a little more than “normal”. I hit a little wobble the other day when I walked into the lounge after being stuck in my office and Jordy had put the TV on by himself and was busy watching Goosebumps!!! Oh my gosh I was so upset with myself and the situation. Shortly thereafter, like a gift from above, I recieved this mail from the team at NETFLIX, and they shared a list of kid-friendly programs and movies, as well as safety features for us parents to ensure we know what they are consuming, even when we are frantically on deadline or trying to keep our businesses afloat, (in between trying to homeschool our kids!!).
