Coco De Mer

Before we knew it April was upon us this year, and a week before our anniversary Justin & I looked at one another with a blank look when someone asked us what our plans to celebrate were.

If you know us, or at least me 🙂 , you will know I am very big on celebrating, and most especially when it comes to our marriage and our kids. We had already had a friend’s 40th happening on our actual anniversary which we had RSVP’d to a while back, but for some off reason our anniversary had been neglected by both of us!

Well little did I know that from that moment we realised, my incredible hubby was fast pedalling to make something special come together – and my goodness did he blow it out the park!

SURPRISE!

Juzzy’s parents had already offered to have our babies for the night, and so Juzzy decided it would be special to whisk me away for one night… but considering we were headed to the Midlands the next day for the 40th, he very cleverly kept it local, keeping drive time down and maximising our time “away”. He decided on a “staycation” at the boutique hotel in Ballito called Coco De Mer.

Gosh, from arrival to departure, it felt like we were treated like loyalty. The service in this little unassuming hotel really blew us away, (and I am not shy to say I have very high standards – those were more than reached!).

A perfect welcome

As we arrived we had a welcome glass of bubbly, and quickly made our way to the spa located inside the property called Simbiosis. The spa is bordered by a beautiful green belt of the most incredible, lush trees and vegetation, which immediately transported both Juz & I to Bali.

The Spa

We were taken to our treatment rooms and proceeded to enjoy 60minutes of bliss. The full body massages were really incredible – we both rose slowly from the beds, feeling utterly relaxed. The spa is one I highly recommend. The therapists were polite and lovely, as well highly skilled. The rooms were serene and the music was just perfect. The entire experience was 5* in my opinion.

Fiamma Grill

After our treatments we found ourselves a bit peckish. We went across to Fiamma Grill, which is the restaurant on the property, and in fact one I have celebrated a birthday at before Covid – it can get very festive!
We ordered a bottle of bubbly and sat in the intermittent sunshine (it was drizzly), enjoying some bubbles and Sushi. Bliss!

There service in both the restaurant and the hotel was just brilliant, with the staff offering to help us with the smallest things, but went above and beyond. Truly we felt very special.

We went up to our room and got ready for dinner. It was a chilly evening so after a bath and dressing warmly we went down to a cosy little spot in the restaurant.

Dinner

Dinner was spectacular. Justin and I shared the prawn and the snail starters, slowly sipping on yet more bubbly :), and then I had the prawn main (best prawns I can recall having, like, EVER!) and Juz had a delicious steak. We were surprised with a “Happy Anniversary” desert, which interestingly is made by the manager’s mom – sooo delish!

It was just an unbelievable surprise getaway and incredibly special one night getaway with my special hubby of 11 years.
