Resources for at kids home

I am asked multiple times a day for resources like schedules, ideas and links by mummas like me who are (thankfully wise enough to be) staying home, practicing social distancing and self-isolation… and so to make things easier to share I have popped all the resources that have gathered and those that have been shared with me right here on my blog, which you can share and revisit when needed.

Here are some tips that I shared on my Instagram last week in case you missed them:

– draw a bug 🐞 on each child’s hand in the morning and tell them it should be gone by bath time; hand washing inventive 😜 .
– give your older kid/s a diary so they can journal each day of the holidays and keep up their writing. A friend also recommended the app Me: kids diary; our kids don’t have tablets but I’ll see if we can borrow their dad’s for the holidays 😜🤫 .
– subscribe to teachers pay teachers; a free resource that gives your worksheets etc for kiddies .
– @othergoose is incredibly offering 3 weeks of free subscription to mamas with kids home for the hols ✨🙌🏼 .
– @play.hooray is offering free downloadables and resources on her blog too 🙌🏼🌈 #peopleareawesome .
– support small businesses by subscribing to monthly craft boxes ( @moxie_kids_craft_box – code SHANFOURIE for 15% off your subscription or code SHAN10 for 10% off a single box) .
– spend time growing brains and motor skills of your little one with a busy book ( @bugz_busy_books is great) .
– go for walks around the garden / estate / block – bake – have dance offs .

And one of our favourite morning activities: morning yoga:
I have been amazed at how well the kids follow the lessons.
Two resources I have found are:
Cosmic Kids Yoga and
Maa Yoga for kids , although Cosmic Kids is our personal fave because it has a range of different storylines, from Trolls and Frozen to Spider-Man.

Other kid-friendly workouts — choose from Strength for Kids, Agility for Kids, Flexibility and Balance for Kids, Warm-Up for Kids, Cooldown for Kids, Stand Up and Move for Kids, OR create your own custom kid workout. https://app.sworkit.com/collections/kids-workouts
At home OT, PT, and ST resources designed to build skills in children through movement and play. https://www.theottoolbox.com/

A few special mamas and or pages I follow have some fab ideas up on their pages and blogs so take a look at:

– @cjrosenberg – What do you get when a fully qualified teacher also has a graphic design course under her belt; a wonderfully talented beauty named Caley. Cals has posted a very handy holiday schedule as well as a playdough recipe up on her blog, and her daily updates on her IG Stories give us mamas a bunch of clever ideas – including maths made fun with Smarties

– @inthesestilettos – Rebecca has always inspired me with all the fun activities she does with her kiddies, so it was no surprise when she was one of the first mamas to share her expertise with the rest of us with little-to-no-clue! Take a look at her blog for some amazing inspo!
.
– @fidgetyfingerz – this lovely mama of boys is an incredible woman whom I respect hugely. She continually shares wonderful ideas on her IG that don’t require any big purchases or fancy things – just simple DIYs that everyone can do. If you’re not following Rudayyah then do yourself a favour and head over to her Instagram.

– @justamamma – Oh my goodness this lovely mama has crept into my heart like you can’t believe. Her infectious zest for life, her steadfast faith and her love for her family are just a few reasons why she inspires me daily, and I just adore her sense of humour. Mari-Louise is a girl-mama who is an award winning blogger, and if you aren’t already following her blog then you are missing out big time! This amazing mama has taken the time to develop some amazing resources for us, including FREE DAILY SCHEDULE FOR KIDS AND WEEKLY ACTIVITY PRINTABLES FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH!

“Help has arrived….
Ok, so LOTS of parents are suddenly home with their kiddos…
We have always home schooled after I was a classroom teacher for more than a decade, so I say WELCOME and let me help you.😉
A few things to remember, this is a PERFECT time to make memories with your children and learn things beyond “normal” math and reading.
This is a great time to really help your child dig in and spend hours doing or learning something that they love or are passionate about.
Don’t forget that there are TONS of documentaries on the streaming services that they might enjoy and learn a lot from.
Here are links that I have gathered to TONS of free fun learning options for all ages from toddlers to AP students to adults.  Some are always free and some are only free during this current situation👇
I am making this post public, so feel free to share it far and wide.😍  If you know of a resource for FREE education (either permanent or only during this time) please share it in the comments.
