Review | COMO Uma Ubud

ARRIVAL & FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
COMO Uma Ubud was the first resort we stayed in upon our arrival in Bali, and there could not have been a warmer welcome for us… or a more magical one! Words escape me as I try put into thoughts my many wondrous feelings. I will try and explain our experience as best as I possibly can, but know that I most likely will not do it justice — it was just unreal. Pure, inexplicable perfection!

The entrance of COMO Uma is a simple yet inviting and open space, one that is clean and is accompanied by broad, genuine smiles and warm staff.

A walk through COMO UMA UBUD to our room

ROOMS:
It wasn’t until we were shown our room that our jaws literally hit the floor and realised the dream that was before us. COMO Uma Ubud is a dream.
We stayed in the Garden Pool Villa and this is where I struggle to find the words to accurately express how wonderful this resort is. From the moment you enter the door you feel as though you have come home, but to the most magnificent, perfect home you could ever imagine. A sanctuary.

Here is a floor plan of the villa we stayed in so you can see the layout from above. SO cleverly designed!

DINING:
Orgasmic. Yip. You read that right. The food at COMO Uma Ubud is nothing short of orgasmic.
Breakfast is a feast

Lunch around the pool is superb and there is no better view or service. I didn’t seem to make the best choices of meals around the pool, but the environment made up for it.

I discovered a favorite rose called TWO Islands – apparently called the Two Islands because it is made in Australia and bottled in Bali, making it more affordable with import duties – and so light and perfect in the Balinese heat

Dinner at the resort’s restaurant UMA Cucina: Impeccable. Please do yourself a favour and have the vegetarian pizza called TARTUFO. It has a bunch of things we have never heard of on it like Fior di latte, radicchio and fontina… but we have never ever in our lives eaten a pizza anything that delicious. Guys, I am not even over-exaggerating, I know I have a tendency to do so… but this is not that. I told you; orgasmic.
We actually ended up at the resort’s restaurant by accident; it was day 1 in Bali and we were pretty exhausted from our travels/arrival. We had a treatment at the resort spa.. {OMG!} – and then felt too tired to think about going out so we threw some clothes on and took a short walk to UMA Cucina… well, we didn’t know just how much our minds were to be blown. The restaurant is very simple in design/decor, but the food is quite literally the best Italian we have ever, and maybe ever will have. I WILL return one day, even if just for that pizza! The aubergine/eggplant parmigiana was also incredible. Couple it with some red wine and your evening is utter perfection. #stillnotexaggerating

Spa:

Upon arrival we were gifted vouchers towards a treatment at the spa. The prices were rather extravagant in comparison to what you will pay elsewhere in Bali, however the treatments were like nothing on earth.

The tranquil spa is quiet, pretty and the swimming koi do well to add to the serenity you feel as you arrive. The therapists are very friendly, professional and inviting… the treatments were just unforgettable. There is no comparison to the technique and luxurious treatments we experienced. If you are staying in Ubud please do yourself a favour and visit the COMO Shambhala Retreat for a full body massage treatment – you won’t find a better way to spend money in Ubud!

Pricing:

Being of the utmost luxury, the price of a stay at COMO Uma is going to be in the higher end of the market, but you can what you pay for, and at COMO Uma there is not an ounce of detail left out. Depending on when you travel you could pay around R4900 per night ex taxes for a villa like ours mentioned above. Prices as at 2019/2020 rates and subject to season, availability and not to be used at quotes. Contact COMO Uma for more detail on quotations and pricing.

If you find yourself looking for the best accomodation money can buy in Ubud then I can without a shadow of a doubt recommend Como Uma. It is the most luxurious, beautiful, well kept, friendly, phenomenal place we have ever stayed, and we long for the day we are able to return.

Thank you Como Uma for the opportunity to stay at and review your superb resort! It truly was a most magical experience !
