Review | LG Smart Inverter Top Loader

If you have followed me a while you will know that we are so very excited to be building a house – a dream come true for us, complete with a big garden for our babies to play in all day long! So you can only imagine my pure joy and excitement when LG contacted me to try out and feedback on their new LG Smart Inverter Top Loader washing machine. A new machine for our new home! I cannot explain how excited I was, particularly because our washing machine prior to this thing of beauty was something that had been around and used by Justin and his digs-mates since 10 years ago, old, noisy, and very, very average.

You guys, I am sure I am not alone when I say that laundry does not excite me. There is nothing better than clean and fresh smelling and feeling clothing… but the process of getting it to that point.. not so much of fun hey!? Well that is what I thought prior to my pearly-white LG Top loader’s arrival. I am not even kidding! I was genuinely EXCITED and I literally could not wait to put a load on the day it was installed! It helped that the very day the machine was installed, my youngest son arrived home from school looking like THIS:

First week of school and his brand-new uniform top looked 3 years old! Normally I would have been LESS than impressed, but I was actually chomping at the bit to put a load on and see what this baby could do!
I scoured the house for any possible dirty laundry I could get my paws on to try and fill a load (which was tough as the LG Smart Inverter Top Loader I was graced with is a 17kg! So it takes a LOT to fill the drum. Once I was satisfied that the drum was full enough for a load I excitedly popped the machine on and was blown away by the ease in which I got it working! I did not even have to read the manual – which is normally my first instinct on arrival of anything new, especially something with a couple different options and buttons! But the machine was so simple it basically started itself and just took me along for the ride. Not a word of a lie! So impressed!

It is soooo quiet you have to go right up to it to ensure it is actually running, and it is mesmerising watching it work (see my Insta Stories for more videos)

The machine runs at 45dB – somewhere between the noise of a library and an office, and quieter than two people having a conversation. It also has far less vibration. Moms LOVE anything that decreases the noise in their homes!

There also are other amazing features worth mentioning:

Energy Saving with Smart Inverter Control → Smart Inverter Technology eliminates wasted operation by efficiently controlling energy use.

I love anything that helps to limit usage and conserve energy, and the LG Smart Inverter uses 36% less energy than conventional LG units. To bring energy usage down but over a third is seriously impressive. If I could afford to cover our new roof in solar panels to try limit our energy usage as a family I totally would do that, so this feature really makes my heart happy. The LG Smart Inverter also has an impressive feature whereby if the cycle is interrupted by a power failure it will pick up where it left off when electricity is restored, saving you from having to start the cycle from the start.

Smart Motion → Smart Motion is 3 kinds of motions created by the Smart Inverter for optimized washing by fabric type.

I have a love for delicate fabrics, not least of which is lace. Handwashing is time consuming, and sometimes can be harsher on a fabric than needs be as we underestimate our strength. I really love that this very smart Smart Inverter has got 3 kinds of motions in order to optimise washing by fabric type. A gentle swing motion is perfect for my delicate laces, especially my latest fave from Santa Fe Collective.

Turbo Drum™ → TurboDrum™ enables the most powerful wash and removes even the toughest dirt through strong water stream of rotating drum and pulsator in the opposite direction.

Thanks to both the Punch +3  as well as the clever pre-wash option, Jordy’s school top came out looking brand-spanking NEW! Not a stain or spot in sight. It also smelt amazing! I don’t know what it was about my old machine, but I could never get my clothes smelling beautifully fresh like friends seemed to. I can gladly say my new LG Smart Inverter leaves my clothes brilliantly clean and smelling so good!

Side Waterfall → Enables the best mixing of detergent with water while minimising detergent residue that can cause skin irritation and allergy.

Raising a household of little people means a continuous struggle to protect them as far as possible. Knowing the LG Smart Inverter limits any skin irritations and allergies that might be caused by harsh chemicals on our babies’ skin is a big gold star in my book!

Smart Diagnosis →
This has got to be one of my absolute FAVOURITE features of this incredible machine. I don’t know if you know this about me, but I HATE talking on the telephone. I always have. I don’t know why it is, but I will make every effort to avoid a phone call… so weird I know… but true. I will email ahead of calling, even when making a dinner reservation at a restaurant. So this feature is such a treat! If you have a problem with your machine, you are able to download the Smart Diagnosis app, turn on the machine, press the ‘water’ button for 3 sec and the machine will play a sound. The app will identify the problem through that tone and guide you through a solution

Just brilliant!!!

I have to say, I really am loving my LG Smart Inverter and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a washing machine. I actually feel like it tries to make my life easier, and this mama is beyond grateful for any help she can get!

This machine will also have a special place in my heart because my baby girl took her first few steps just yesterday in front of it! 20 days before she turns ONE!
