The South African Bone Marrow Registry’s (SABMR) first big fundraising event of the year kicks off on Friday, 11 March with a Charity Golf Day at the Durban Country Club. All proceeds will go towards its Patient Assistance Programme that provides financial assistance to patients who cannot afford the cost of finding a suitable donor for a bone marrow transplant.
The registry hopes to make up the income it has lost over the last two years as a result of lockdown regulation, which banned physical events, starting with the Charity Golf Day in Durban.
A fourball format will be played at the cost of R4 000 per team. This includes drinks on arrival, lunch, watering holes, a three-course dinner, auction and prize-giving to round off the day.
Actor and long-time supporter of the SABMR, Frank Rautenbach, will participate in the day’s play while doubling up as MC during the on-site auction. Valuable sports memorabilia, holidays trips, lifestyle vouchers and hampers will be available to bid on. An online auction will launch a week prior to the event in the hope of raising more money for the cause
The registry relies heavily on donations from the public and corporates to continue the lifesaving work it does. Its aim is to raise R250 000 from the event.
Corporates and golfing enthusiasts have until 10 March 2022 to secure their spots. For bookings, please contact Kapil Premchand via email: Kapil.Premchand@sabmr.co.za or phone him on: 072 794 9316.
For those who can’t attend the event, but would like to make a donation, can do so by visiting https://sabmr.co.za/donate/ for EFT and Payfast options or they can make use of the Zapper and Snapscan codes below by entering an amount of your choice.
