Rhino dehorning | my experience

One of the most emotionally taxing experiences of my life so far

A few weeks ago we were invited to go away with friends to Phinda Bayete for a weekend in the bush. I have never been to Phinda, and being invited to this exclusive “Friends of Phinda” camp was such a treat for us. With the help of Justin’s mom and an Aupair who cared for our babies, we escaped for what was destined to be a magical weekend. We had no idea just what an experience was ahead of us! Why date your hubs?

Justin and I went on a date night last night for the first time in what felt like forever. Life has just been really busy and to be honest we have been really bad at putting aside time for each other. Having spent an evening together, sitting opposite one another in a romantically-lit setting, with someone waiting on us (rather than us waiting on 3 kids), and enjoying a delicious meal together was so great for us last night and just what we needed!
Here is why I think making time for “Date Night” is so important:

MOMMING IN THE FAITH THAT I AM ENOUGH

I wrote this for all the moms who have moments of feeling completely overwhelmed, under-qualified and downright fearful of this massive task of motherhood, because I am one of those moms too!

The Myth of ‘Supermom’

There is no denying that life as we know it today is intense. We have heard it from our grans over a hundred times; we are too busy, there is too much pressure on us, and we need to slow down. We can’t though, can we? We can’t be the only ones going slow, while everything around us spins faster and more out of control! We have to try keep up or we are sure to be left behind. At least that is how I feel. If I take my foot off the gas there is no way I will catch up. It is pretty crazy that this is just life as we know it now.  Continue reading “The Myth of ‘Supermom’”

Discipline.

What a hot topic this has been!
Since posting a video of Jordy (3) emphatically defending his brother Jackson (5) at the announcement that his older brother needed chilli for his bad behaviour, my Insta inbox was flooded on questions, opinions, and not unexpectedly, a few disapproving remarks. It was requested that we run a poll to see what worked for parents when more serious methods of discipline are required.

Before getting onto the results of the poll, I thought I would touch on a few things, and answer a few of the frequently-asked questions I got:  Continue reading “Discipline.”

WIN | My Little Picasso Experience

The day before schools went back a couple friends and I decided last minute to take our littles for a fun outing. We threw around a few ideas and then settled on the new “My Little Picasso” we had heard a few moms raving about at Cornubia Mall. We headed to the new-ish mall (it opened doors 28 September 2017), five kiddies to three mamas (I left Miss B home to nap).  Continue reading “WIN | My Little Picasso Experience”

Our Valentine’s day in pictures

It was a different Valentine’s for me. Waking up without my favourite person lying next to me was not the best feeling; Justin was in JHB on a business trip. We are seldom apart from each other, so it stung a little waking up on the “most romantic” day of the year alone. Continue reading “Our Valentine’s day in pictures”

REVIEW | Sugar & Spice Spa

I was so excited when the lovely ladies at de Charmoy Estate invited me to enjoy and review their Sugar & Spice Spa. To be very honest too, though, I was also a little nervous, and I’ll tell you why; Continue reading “REVIEW | Sugar & Spice Spa”
