Brooke’s party was a mom & daughter only affair, and so dad and the boys were off on their own adventures before the party, but Sammy Maber managed to get some beautiful family pics before they left. Gosh they make my heart burst with pride.

There is no better time to connect with loved ones than over a weekend away! Our lives have been so busy this year that we found ourselves really missing our friends the Rosie’s a lot, and agreed that a weekend away was well needed. Left in the more than capable hands of Caley, a quick two night escape was booked & planned in no time, and we had something to look forward to together.
Here are some pics of our special weekend:

My boys are almost exactly 2 years apart, and for the longest time they shared birthday parties which made so much sense because they shared many of the same friends and it was silly to spend double, 2 weeks apart. As they have grown older, however, it has become all the more evident that they are very different little personalities, and wanted something very different out of their parties. Jordan Rock is “friends with everyone”. The more the merrier for him as he wound invite everyone he has ever met to his party if possible. Jackson, on the other hand, is far more reserved, with fewer close friends, and when it came to planning their parties last year it was clear that he wanted something small, intimate, and mainly with his closest male-friends from school. He couldn’t not invite two of his best girl-friends too, Chloe and Sophie.

We celebrated our little baby girl with the most perfectly PINK party, put together by the incredibly talented and wonderfully special Natasha Parsons from POSH Events. Historically I have always taken huge pride in throwing my kids’ parties myself, but I found myself without the time and energy, and Tash was an absolute lifesaver, and allowed me to feel completely part of the process, beginning to end!
I honestly cannot sing Tash’s praises highly enough. She heard my dreams for the party, put together a mood boards, worked within budget, and went above and beyond in terms of effort and time on this party. The details that she added to the event were too special, and she is made for this party planning life!
Our little two year old absolutely loved being the centre of attention, and particularly loved her jumping castle, and spent hours on it before, during and after the party!
Tash did all the decor – complete with perfume bottles that resembled the Chanel No 5 bottles #LOVE
She arranged all the suppliers and all set up and break down of all items. This included the balloons, of which a few of the tutu balloons popped before the party stared due to the wind and Tash arranged for the supplier to come back and do some more for us!!
Brooke and I twinned in Cotton On Kids tutus in blush pink. Of course she wore it best!

Justin and I went on a date night last night for the first time in what felt like forever. Life has just been really busy and to be honest we have been really bad at putting aside time for each other. Having spent an evening together, sitting opposite one another in a romantically-lit setting, with someone waiting on us (rather than us waiting on 3 kids), and enjoying a delicious meal together was so great for us last night and just what we needed!
Here is why I think making time for “Date Night” is so important:
There is no denying that life as we know it today is intense. We have heard it from our grans over a hundred times; we are too busy, there is too much pressure on us, and we need to slow down. We can’t though, can we? We can’t be the only ones going slow, while everything around us spins faster and more out of control! We have to try keep up or we are sure to be left behind. At least that is how I feel. If I take my foot off the gas there is no way I will catch up. It is pretty crazy that this is just life as we know it now. Continue reading “The Myth of ‘Supermom’”
Friday:
After cramming in some work that morning (while the boys and Miss B played so beautifully in the playroom next to my office), the boys and I dropped little sis with my Mom in law and headed through to Durban. The plan was initially to meet dad for lunch somewhere first, but work delayed me more than I expected and so it was McDees on the road for the boys and I. We had a very important date at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, a date with the BFG!! Continue reading “Weekend in Pics | 29 June – 1 July”
It was the perfect ONEderland for our ONEderful little girl x
I will let the gorgeous pictures taken by the very talented Samantha Maber do most of the talking, but our little princess’s first birthday party was just the most special and wonderful day. She was in her element and loved all the attention – far more than either of my two boys on their 1st birthdays! I think she is going to be quite like her mama and live for celebrations 🙂
My favourite moment of the day was without doubt watching her face light up as if a million fireflies started glowing inside her soul when we all started singing Happy Birthday to her… she loved every single moment of it <3
Theme: ONEderland

Welcome Sign, Cake Topper & Bottle Labels: Danielle Barrie SmithThe main table decor was simple but worked out perfectly. A special friend helped me put the flower arrangement together, which was initially supposed to arch around the table, but I ran out of time to put the arch together, and also felt it actually looked prettier on the table itself. I need to add that it is also very special that I got to use my Nana’s lace table cloth on the main table. My Nana’s name is Fay, and I was named after her (Shannon Fay), just as I have named Brooklyn (Brooklyn Fay) after her too, and so very special to use this for the first time at B’s special first birthday!
