Living a life of significance is my main goal in this beautiful life I have been given, and so being involved in making a difference in various charities and NPOs is something I am very passionate about. It was with great happiness that a part of my Mrs South Africa journey included me putting together a fundraiser for The Cansa Association of SA.
Festive shopping is well underway in our home, and I thought it would be helpful if I put some of my favourite gift ideas together (as well as some Black Friday deals!
When I was first approached and asked if I wanted to be part of a community chosen to trial Bowel Balance and feedback on my experience my first instinct was to shy away from the opportunity. Speaking about toilet habits is something we just don’t do… not publicly anyway!
In July I was asked to review the FitChef meals and I have been inundated by questions from you all asking how we found it and if I would recommend it! Justin and I were very kindly sent the 21 day couples challenge to try, and here are our thoughts:
Arrival: It is safe to say that the order process and delivery as well as packaging of the FitChef meals impressed me from the minute the delivery man arrived with 4 (rather large) boxes, chilled and sealed. Opening the boxes was one of the most exciting unboxes I have done this year, and I couldn’t stop grinning from ear-to-ear at the thought of not having to meal-plan, prep or cook for Justin and I for at least 21 days! Bliss!
Coach Learnmore is the most wonderful addition to any birthday party! We have known Coach for about 3 years now, as my boys did Footy with him down at the bottom of Ballito. His magnetic yet humble personality really endeared me to him, and I am so excited to tell you a little about this awesome guy!
Coach Learnmore is the most wonderful soccer coach, who is able to magically manage and keep all the kids entertained and active almost all of the time. A favorite for his is running soccer action and entertainment at kids parties – and he is GREAT at it! It is evident from all the pics just how much frun was had, and thanks to Coach, the kids were kept warm in the cooler weather we had on the day of the party.
It’s #WorldBreastfeedingWeek, and over this past week my inbox has been flooded with emails entitled or including the #breastisbest slogan. Instagram has been filled with {beautiful} breastfeeding pictures and controversial discussions around the topic.
While I personally have never been one to share any {revealing} images of me breastfeeding, prior to today of course ;), every #breastisbest hashtag has pushed me a little more to share my feelings on the topic. But before I share my feelings on the matter, here is some background on my three b/feeding experiences:
I met Claire Hodgson years ago through my great friend, Justine. A friend of a friend to me, and someone who I’ve stayed connected with through Facebook over the years and a brief catch-up as and when we have seen one another, but acquaintances nonetheless. When chatting with Justine (Juds) last week and checking in with her on how Claire was managing, we found ourselves asking each other what we could do to help Claire. If you are not familiar with Claire’s story, then you can read in more detail here; http://bit.ly/ClaireHFB but in summary, Claire was diagnosed in May this year (2018) with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma. Since then she has had 42 tumours surgically removed, had countless scans, infections and infusions. Through all of this Claire has remained gracious, positive, and an ever-increasing strength and belief that she will kick this thing!
Very quickly mine and Justine’s WhatsApp conversation went from ideas which turned into plans. All stemming from a hope that we could help Claire in some small way. Before we knew it we had a date (short 5 days later), a venue, breakfast menu, event coordinator, and more! Donations streamed in from all angles for both prizes and for goodie bag contents, and it is safe to say we were blown away by the kindness of people. I was also contacted by three people offering to take the job as the event speaker. Our minds were blown! Justine and I were constantly swapping messages we were receiving from people who were reaching out to help. The event was sold out in two days, and had we had more time we could have easily doubled the numbers. THAT is how people wanted to show up and love on Claire, a beautiful girl who is showing us all how to live!
