I recently asked for recommended places to stay in Clarens as we are going there for a wedding soon, and tons of people asked me to share the recommendations, so here they are in a blog post – easy to come back to when you need to.

Gravity Hotel | Review

We stayed 5 nights total in Uluwatu, and Gravity Hotel was where we spent the last 3 nights. Gravity was recommended to us by a friend who travels to Bali often enough to make me very green with envy! It really is a magical little spot perched on a hill overlooking Ulu… but there are a few things you should know before booking there:

Lloyds Inn Seminyak | Review

ARRIVAL & FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Our arrival at Lloyds Inn was a little underwhelming to say the least – we had just traveled from Uluwatu through to Seminyak and although we had spent time in Seminyak before and were well equipped for it’s buzz, our last villa was close to the craziness, but not quite as IN IT as Lloyds. We literally found ourselves turning down a main market road and into a back alley towards what was said to be our accomodation. For the first time in our Bali trip Justin looked homesick, just like he normally gets when he is feeling anxious and uncertain of a place or situation.

Tandweni Villa | Jozini

We were invited to spend a weekend away in Jozini checking out a private luxury villa called Tandweni. Tiger fishing and sunset bush drives left us feeling very grateful for this SA life we live… here’s a review of our stay, covering some of the questions you guys asked – including; where on earth is Jozini?! There is also a discount code for you at the end of the post 😉

Review | COMO Uma Ubud

ARRIVAL & FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
COMO Uma Ubud was the first resort we stayed in upon our arrival in Bali, and there could not have been a warmer welcome for us… or a more magical one! Words escape me as I try put into thoughts my many wondrous feelings. I will try and explain our experience as best as I possibly can, but know that I most likely will not do it justice — it was just unreal. Pure, inexplicable perfection!

Review | Renaissance Uluwatu

ARRIVAL & FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

You don’t need to even have arrived at the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa, to feel it’s brilliance. As you approach the resort the sheer size and stature positioned on the edge of a cliff in Bukit, you may find it difficult to not feel your breath taken away for a few, magnificent moments. The roof shape resembles that of a leatherback turtle, which was the inspiration behind the architecture in honour of the beautiful creatures who are known to nest along the stretch of the Bukit peninsula.

Midlands escape | Travel

There is no better time to connect with loved ones than over a weekend away! Our lives have been so busy this year that we found ourselves really missing our friends the Rosie’s a lot, and agreed that a weekend away was well needed. Left in the more than capable hands of Caley, a quick two night escape was booked & planned in no time, and we had something to look forward to together.

Here are some pics of our special weekend:

Rhino dehorning | my experience

One of the most emotionally taxing experiences of my life so far

A few weeks ago we were invited to go away with friends to Phinda Bayete for a weekend in the bush. I have never been to Phinda, and being invited to this exclusive “Friends of Phinda” camp was such a treat for us. With the help of Justin’s mom and an Aupair who cared for our babies, we escaped for what was destined to be a magical weekend. We had no idea just what an experience was ahead of us!
