The 12 Apostles | Review

Early May we were lucky enough to head to the Cape for a few days, and even luckier still to spend time at the highly rated 12 Apostles Hotel located in Camps Bay. The hotel is positioned such that it feels it is the only place between the majestic Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain, with a view of the Atlantic that makes your heart flutter.

Reservations

From the very first interaction with the 12A I could tell this hotel was in a class of it’s own. As I was coming in order to review the hotel, there were many requests from my side for reception, which included certain set ups and accepting packages on my behalf. Not one single request was too much to ask, and every single time a package was received I was informed via email confirmation. The staff helped me feel absolutely certain that everything would be in place by the time we arrived, and for that I was so very grateful.

Arrival

Arrival carried much the same prestige and perfection. The staff were so very warm and welcoming, with large smiles and champagne on ice. After a swift sign in process we were informed our room was ready and waiting for our arrival, and we were escorted up with information being shared with us along the way.

Accomodation

Our room was just beautiful. A Superior Sea Facing room, with everything you could ever need and more. The ocean air floating through sliding glass doors that look onto a small balcony. A lounge area, equipped with Nespresso machine & pods, snacks, still water and a mini bar. All this is looked down upon by a king size bed that could only be likened to a massive, fluffy cloud. I honestly never wanted to leave that bed or linen.

Room Service

Room service at the 12 Apostles is just enough to make you want to never ever leave your hotel room (I mean, that coupled with the bed and you are basically a recluse!)
Breakfast in your room offers all your little heart could imagine. Deliciousness with a view from heaven. Romantic is an understatement.

Celebrations

We were able to celebrate one of my best friend’s at the 12A, and they too enjoyed an incredible stay at the hotel. I think something that most impressed me with this hotel is the effort they went into making Leigh’s 35th birthday as special as it was. They set her room up with birthday treats as well as the flowers and balloons a group of us friends had arranged. From the moment we surprised Leigh on her balcony, popped some bubbly and made our way to the Leopard Bar, the celebrations were just perfection.

The Leopard Bar

The Leopard Bar was the perfect spot for us to carry on the celebrations. We were able to order some delicious lunch snacks and to really connect together as friends. The music and vibe in the bar was the perfect balance of sophistication and delight. We were just all in the best moods and being able to celebrate life together in such a beautiful place with top notch service and attention to detail was nothing short of incredible. One for the books. The weather was cold when we first arrived at the bar, and then while inside the sun peeked out for us, creating the opportunity to capture the most incredible pics with the 12Apostles behind the hotel.

Dinner

Dinner was again a beautiful event, with world-class service, a stunning selection of wines and bubbles, and absolutely sensational meals. We had a lovely time, laughing, eating and again, connecting.

Pool

There is a perfectly heated pool which overlooks the Atlantic, allowing you to enjoy a dip even on a crisp or chilly day.

Breakfast Buffet

The breakfast room is something to behold. A selection of breakfast options beyond your wildest dreams, all laid out in tiny glass jars so as to be safe in these times, (Covid). The views of the ocean are mesmerising, and you are able to order just about anything off the ala carte menu too. The coffee is exceptional, but beware, the virgin Bloody Mary will potentially give you hairs on your chest!

Verdict

Honestly, in all our travels we quite honestly cannot say that we have experienced the level of service, willingness and kindness in the staff anywhere else in SA. If there were any issues at all they ensured they sorted them with haste and tried everything in their power to make our stay as absolutely luxurious as possible… and that it was. I truly cannot wait to visit again.

The 12A also has a highly rated Spa which is definitely worth a visit
