Weekend in Pics | 29 June – 1 July

Friday:
After cramming in some work that morning (while the boys and Miss B played so beautifully in the playroom next to my office), the boys and I dropped little sis with my Mom in law and headed through to Durban. The plan was initially to meet dad for lunch somewhere first, but work delayed me more than I expected and so it was McDees on the road for the boys and I. We had a very important date at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, a date with the BFG!!
We arrived nice and early, and had some fun pics outside, then went inside; more pics 😉 and a cappuccino, and finally dad met us at the theatre. It still looks and feels exactly as magical as it did when I was a child, watching, and even performing on that stage myself.

Once the “bell” sounded we made our way into the theatre and the stage was dimly lit with activity happening, which was such a welcome change to the normal “dead” stage before a performance. It got us all a little excited, intrigued with the goings-on, and filled the time it took for the theatre to fill up. The boys were so excited, and a little nervous too as it was Jordy’s first live performance of this nature.

The show was just magical, if you haven’t booked I believe that Kickstart Theatre have opened up another performance at 11am on 5 July and I highly recommend taking the kiddies. Very special show.

We raced home from town, picked up little sis, sorted the kids with bath, dinner and got myself ready in 10minutes to get to Umhloti for one of my very special bestie’s birthday dinner.
Ness and I met when I arrived in PMB to study and landed up in her digs. We could not be more different, but that is I think part of the magic of our friendship – we are able to share with each other our completely different views or feelings, whilst having one very awesome thing in common – our faith!

It was the MOST FUN girls night I have had in forever. We started at SandBar and ended at 14 on Chartwell.

Saturday:
We got up and ready early bells to get to an event we had been invited to in Durban at Moses Mabhida. We made our way through there and were a little unsettled as had been under the impression it was a family fun day with activities for the kids, but it was mainly adults playing soccer, and not much else on the go, so we decided to head to the beach front instead. I am so happy we did as we had the most wonderful day with very special friends; the Parsons family. Jackson and Chloe have had the most beautiful friendship since they were 9 months old, and their mommies have developed a beautiful, deep and meaningful friendship that is more like a sisterhood! Love this family so very much! We walked the prom, had brekkie at Circus Circus and then had another little prom walk.

We had a chilled afternoon – the kids napped and then Justin took the boys with him when he went to gym, and I had time alone with Miss B.

I crashed early after a late night the night before.

Sunday:
We joined parents my parents-in-law & sister-in-law’s fam for breakfast in Zimbali. The cuzzies all play so beautifully – very special. And Jackson looks after his sister so well, it really allows Justin and I to sit and relax for a bit when we are out.

While at breakfast Justin’s mom mentioned how much she would love to go to the Mango Groove concert at Sugar Rush that afternoon. J’s sister Ands and I decided we should take her and we had such a wonderful time in the park, drinking G&T and listening to old favourites.
Sugar Rush is the perfect venue for an outdoor concert with the facilities and space. The new Digs Kitchen makes the most delicious pizzas which we all enjoyed while sitting out in the sun on blankets, and the kids went between being with us to playing in the kids playground. Bliss. Well done to Ballito Beats on another perfectly planned event!

Meanwhile at home Justin was having some special quality time with B after her nap:

We got home, and had a few minutes of chilling together and catching up on each other’s afternoons

I then made the kids 2Minute Noodles & scrambled egg (weekend fave) while Justin watered the garden. Miss B went to bed and the boys had decided they wanted to sleep in their play room for the night. I managed to convince them that the sleeper couch was the better option (over their mini-armchairs!) and after bedtime stories and prayers we said goodnight. Walking out we heard “Jack I am a bit scared…” and didn’t think it would last. They surprised us and slept through to 6.45am

It was a full and fun weekend, and now looking forward to a full week of more school holiday quality time together!

How was your weekend?

XOXO
