Early May we were lucky enough to head to the Cape for a few days, and even luckier still to spend time at the highly rated 12 Apostles Hotel located in Camps Bay. The hotel is positioned such that it feels it is the only place between the majestic Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain, with a view of the Atlantic that makes your heart flutter.Continue reading “The 12 Apostles | Review”
Before we knew it April was upon us this year, and a week before our anniversary Justin & I looked at one another with a blank look when someone asked us what our plans to celebrate were.Continue reading “Coco De Mer”
In April this year we were invited to attend a ‘social cruise’ aboard the Shayamanzi II house boat in Jozini. We were invited as a family, and after experiencing it with 3 kiddies aged 8, 6 and 4, here is what we thought of the trip;Continue reading “Shayamanzi House Boat”
Early March I joined a group of girls to the bush for a 3 night stay in Bela Bela.
After the speed in which Jan & Feb passed us, as well as coming out of the second wave of Covid in SA, it was such a welcome vacay!

Ever since we heard about the Cavern Resort & Spa in 2018 and paid it a visit, we have been enamoured with the place and it is an honour to share this special gem with you all. The Cavern, founded by Bill Carte in 1941, is still a family run business, and with that creates what I believe to be the heart of the resort. It is, in my opinion, far more special than a business-run resort with “one in one out” mentality. Megan & Hilton Bedingham run The Cavern with love & heart, and that can be felt throughout the resort. The family eats nightly in the same dining hall as guests, and with a weekly ‘snacks in the bar’, genuinely seem to care for making connections with their guests. See discount code at end of this post 🙂

I recently asked for recommended places to stay in Clarens as we are going there for a wedding soon, and tons of people asked me to share the recommendations, so here they are in a blog post – easy to come back to when you need to.Continue reading “Clarens – where to stay”
We stayed 5 nights total in Uluwatu, and Gravity Hotel was where we spent the last 3 nights. Gravity was recommended to us by a friend who travels to Bali often enough to make me very green with envy! It really is a magical little spot perched on a hill overlooking Ulu… but there are a few things you should know before booking there:Continue reading “Gravity Hotel | Review”
ARRIVAL & FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Our arrival at Lloyds Inn was a little underwhelming to say the least – we had just traveled from Uluwatu through to Seminyak and although we had spent time in Seminyak before and were well equipped for it’s buzz, our last villa was close to the craziness, but not quite as IN IT as Lloyds. We literally found ourselves turning down a main market road and into a back alley towards what was said to be our accomodation. For the first time in our Bali trip Justin looked homesick, just like he normally gets when he is feeling anxious and uncertain of a place or situation.
We were invited to spend a weekend away in Jozini checking out a private luxury villa called Tandweni. Tiger fishing and sunset bush drives left us feeling very grateful for this SA life we live… here’s a review of our stay, covering some of the questions you guys asked – including; where on earth is Jozini?! There is also a discount code for you at the end of the post 😉Continue reading “Tandweni Villa | Jozini”
Is there anything better than a quick escape to the Cape? Short answer: No. No there is not! Shopping at the V&A, eating loads of delicious food and beaching it on Camps Bay are the makings of a perfect little getaway in my mind!Continue reading “An Escape to the Cape | Where to stay”
