Living a life of significance is my main goal in this beautiful life I have been given, and so being involved in making a difference in various charities and NPOs is something I am very passionate about. It was with great happiness that a part of my Mrs South Africa journey included me putting together a fundraiser for The Cansa Association of SA.Continue reading “Fundraiser for CANSA | Mrs South Africa”
This year there was no getting away from it. Brooklyn’s mind was made up on the party she wanted… and she wanted FROZEN. Believe me when I say I tried to convince her otherwise (Yes I knowww it’s herrrr party and she must have what she wants…) but I am not a big fan of throwing ‘commercial’ parties so for me Frozen was not high on my list of themes that excited me…Continue reading “Brooklyn’s Winter Wonderland 5th party”
Bone Marrow donations are not painful like people think they are, and they can SAVE LIVES
Every year, thousands of people with blood cancers and disorders reach a critical point where the only possible cure for their condition—and perhaps their only chance at survival—is a bone marrow transplant.Continue reading “YOU CAN BE PART OF SOMEONE’S TOMORROW!”

I was invited to attend the launch of the new Nicci Boutique store to open at Gateway Theatre of Shopping. It was a lovely event where guests were invited to try O Roast Lab “Rose Iced Coffee” (delish), have our hair styled with the ultimate hair tools by GLAMPALM and mosey around the store, connecting with fellow content creators.Continue reading “Nicci Boutique | Launch”

My little girl turned FOUR in Feb this year (2021), and she knew exactly what she wanted for her party. She is a real little lady who loves all things pamper & beauty, and so a Pamper Party was the perfect fit for our princess B.
Seeing as we are still amid a global pandemic we took care to keep her party small, inviting only the children she plays closely with in her class, a couple of her besties-since-birth outside of school, and their mamas. This meant no siblings allowed – not even her brothers. 🙁Continue reading “Brooklyn’s 4th Birthday”

The thought of enduring a country-wide lockdown for 21days (or more) naturally brings with it a large dose of anxiety. Some of us will be in lockdown with our families which is wonderful in many ways… but children who are home-bound for any period of time will become more irritable their siblings, frustrated with their surroundings and test us in many ways. Moms will have shorter fuses, naturally taking on the strain of what is happening in our nation, also feeling stifled by the lack of external input, as well as exhausted by having our kids on top of and around us allllllll day long. Not to mention the unusual dynamic of having Dad/hubby around 24/7! In most cases Dads are just not used to being home for this amount of time, and it’s not likely to be smooth sailing for the duration of this isolation period, for anyone. All round we are unified in facing something we’ve never faced before. Many of us are going to be heavily impacted financially by this lockdown, and that brings with it its own stress. Others of us are preparing to isolate alone, with no one to share this time with, and days will be very long. Each of us is going to cope with this in our own ways, and it’s really important that we do our very best to keep mentally strong & positive.
Laken Folster is a counselling psychologist who has very kindly shared some helpful advice on how to maintain a healthy mental state during this lockdown, how to cope and get through this with a positive mindset:Continue reading “10 Steps to ensure Mental Health Wellness during ‘lockdown’”
